What is Merging and Why Use It?
The Merge feature is a powerful tool that allows you to combine multiple individual trade entries into a single, consolidated entry. This is especially useful for cleaning up your journal and getting a clearer picture of your overall performance on a single trade idea.

- Scaling In/Out: Combining multiple entries and exits from the same trade setup.
- Partial Take Profits: Merging several take-profit trades to see the total P/L and duration.
- Correcting Mistakes: Cleaning up accidental or duplicate entries.
How to Merge Your Trades
Merging is done within the Bulk Edit mode, making it easy to select the trades you want to combine.
- From the main journal view, click the Quick Edit button and select Bulk Edit to enter editing mode.
- Select two or more trades you wish to combine by clicking on them.
- In the actions bar at the bottom of the screen, the Merge button will become active. Click it to begin.
The Merge Modal: Resolving Conflicts
After clicking merge, a modal window will appear. This is where you confirm the final details for your new, combined trade.

Automatic Calculations: The system automatically calculates
new values for you:
- Profit/Loss & Size: These are summed up from all selected trades.
- Open/Close Time: The earliest open time and the latest close time are used to set the new duration.
- Entry/Exit Price: The entry price from the very first trade and the exit price from the very last trade are used.
- Conflict Resolution: If the selected trades have different information (e.g., different symbols or strategies), the modal will present you with simple, clickable choices. You must select which value you want to keep for the final merged trade.
- Combining Notes: For your trade notes, you'll have the option to combine all notes from the original trades into the new entry.
Final Confirmation
Important: Merging is a permanent action that cannot be undone. The original trades will be deleted and replaced.
To ensure you don't merge by accident, you must type the word
MERGE into a confirmation box to finalize the process.
💡 Use the Merge feature to analyze the total performance of a trade where you took partial profits at different levels. By merging the partial exits, you can see the true, combined Profit/Loss and duration of your entire trade idea from start to finish.
