What is Bulk Delete and Why Use It?
The Bulk Delete feature allows you to permanently remove multiple journal entries from your account simultaneously. This is useful for quickly cleaning up your journal, removing accidental duplicates, or discarding entries from a strategy you no longer use. Unlike editing or merging, deleting removes the selected entries entirely.
Common use cases include:
- Removing Duplicates: Easily delete multiple accidental or duplicate entries.
- Cleaning Up Old Data: Remove trades from outdated strategies or periods you no longer wish to track.
- Correcting Import Errors: If a CSV import resulted in many incorrect entries, bulk delete can help clear them out efficiently.
How to Delete Multiple Trades
Bulk Deleting is performed within the Bulk Edit mode.
- Enter Bulk Edit Mode: From the main journal view, click the " Quick Edit" button in the action bar and select "Bulk Edit" from the options.
- Select Entries: Choose the entries you want to delete.
- In Classic view, check the box at the beginning of each relevant row.
- In Modern view, click anywhere on the trade entry card (avoiding buttons/links).
- Use the "Select All" checkbox in the bottom action bar to select all visible entries on the page.
- Click Delete: Once you have selected at least one entry, the red " Delete" button in the bottom action bar will become active. Click it.
The Confirmation Modal: Ensuring Safety
After clicking delete, a confirmation modal window will appear. This critical step prevents accidental data loss.
- Warning: The modal clearly states that deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
- Entry Count: It will show how many entries you are about to delete (e.g., "You are about to delete 5 trades.").
- Final Confirmation: You must type the word "DELETE" (all uppercase) into the confirmation input box. This ensures you understand the action you are taking. The final "Confirm Deletion" button will only become active after you type the keyword correctly.
What Happens After Deletion?
Once confirmed, the following occurs:
- The selected journal entries are permanently removed from your account.
- Your account balance(s) are automatically adjusted to reflect the removal of the trades' Profit/Loss.
- Any associated data, like tags, images, and related To-Do tasks, are also deleted.
- Linked Growth Plan days (if any) are reset to 'pending' status.
💡 Use Bulk Delete carefully. It's great for cleaning up mistakes or removing large batches of irrelevant data, but remember there is no undo button for this action. Double-check your selections before confirming.
